Help Shraddha Walk Freely Again

13-year-old Shraddha Shettar from Belgaum, Karnataka, was once an active and cheerful girl. But a few years ago, her parents, Umesh and Nita, began to notice that her back was curving abnormally, and she was struggling to walk or move comfortably. Worried for their daughter, they took her to a local hospital, where tests revealed a heartbreaking diagnosis, Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis, a condition that causes severe curvature of the spine.

Since the local hospital lacked the resources to treat her, the family had to travel to Bengaluru in search of better medical care.According to the doctors at Bhagwan Mahaveer Jain Hospital, Karnataka (500-600 m from Bengaluru Cantonment Railway Station) have recommended Pedicle Screw Instrumentation, Deformity Correction, Vertebral Column Resection, and Fusion Surgery to prevent her condition from worsening. The total cost of the treatment is estimated at Rs 5,50,000 (Rupees Five Lakh Fifty Thousand Only).

Shraddha’s father, Umesh, is a small farmer and the sole breadwinner of the family of four. Earning just Rs 100–200 a day, he is already burdened with debt and cannot afford this life-changing surgery. Yet, Umesh refuses to give up hope, and Shraddha, despite her pain, dreams of returning to school and leading a normal life again. She is currently studying in 8th Standard.
