A Tiny Life, A Family’s Strength: Nandini’s Story

Nandini from Agra, Uttar Pradesh, was diagnosed with Spina Bifida with Myelomeningocele and Hydrocephalus at birth. From the very first day, her parents knew their journey would not be easy. Instead of enjoying the simple joys of welcoming a newborn, Vinod Kumar and Rajesh Kumari were faced with medical terms, hospital visits, and an overwhelming fear for their daughter’s future.

Nandini is just three months old, yet she requires urgent surgery to survive and grow with dignity. Doctors at Panacea Hospital in Dehradun, Uttarakhand (3.1km from Dehradun Railway Station), have advised surgery . to address her condition, which will help prevent further complications and give her a chance at a healthier life. The estimated cost of the treatment is Rs. 5,50,000/- (Rupees Five Lakh Fifty Thousand Only), which is well beyond her family's means.

Vinod Kumar works as a labourer and earns very little. He supports a family of five and lives in a rented house. With mounting medical expenses, the family is already in debt.

Rajesh Kumari, a homemaker, spends her days caring for Nandini, hoping and praying for her recovery.
