13-year-old Shraddha Shettar from Belgaum, Karnataka, was once an active and cheerful girl. But a few years ago, her parents, Umesh and Nita, began to notice that her back was curving abnormally, and she was struggling to walk or move comfortably. Worried for their daughter, they took her to a local hospital, where tests revealed a heartbreaking diagnosis, Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis, a condition that causes severe curvature of the spine.“I can’t afford the surgery, but I can’t afford to lose hope either. We’ve sold whatever little we had to keep her treatment going. I just want to see her walk to school again with a smile.”
