Mungi Samba, a 10-year-old boy from Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, has been fighting a battle no child should ever face. Once an active and cheerful child, Samba’s life took a heartbreaking turn when he was diagnosed with Refractory Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), an aggressive form of blood cancer that has not responded adequately to standard treatments.

Six months ago, while playing at school, he suffered a fall and was taken for medical evaluation. Routine blood tests conducted after the injury revealed alarming abnormalities. Further consultations and detailed tests confirmed their worst fears. What followed were repeated hospital visits, emotional turmoil, and the painful realization that their child’s survival now depended on urgent and advanced medical care.

Samba is currently undergoing treatment at HCG Curie City Cancer Centre, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh (4.9km from Vijayawada Railway Station), where doctors have advised two cycles of Immunotherapy,, a critical and time-sensitive intervention offering him the best chance at recovery. The treatment is intense, prolonged, and requires close medical monitoring.

Samba’s father, Mr. Pothuraju, works as a daily wage labourer, earning just enough to meet the family’s basic needs. His mother, Durga, is a housewife who stays by her son’s side, drawing strength from hope and faith. With limited income and no financial backup, the family is struggling to cope with the mounting medical expenses.

The estimated cost of treatment is Rs. 6,70,000/- (Rupees Six Lakh Seventy Thousand Only), an amount far beyond what the family can afford on their own. Despite the hardships, they remain hopeful, believing that with timely medical support, their son can overcome this life-threatening illness.

Sometimes, saving a life means standing for a child whose dreams are still waiting to be fulfilled, and giving hope to a family that refuses to give up.
