Sagnik's Second Fight for a Healthy Childhood

Seven-year-old Sagnik Das from Hooghly, West Bengal, the son of Sipra and Sanskar, is once again fighting a battle that no child should have to face. Recently, he began complaining of stomach aches and trouble with his vision, and tests confirmed that he is suffering from Relapsed B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, a blood cancer that has returned after treatment.

This is not the first time the family has been through this. Sagnik's illness was detected once before, and after a long and exhausting phase of treatment, they hoped it was behind them. But the relapse has brought back all their fears, and his health has been getting worse ever since. Frequent hospital visits and constant weakness have also kept him away from school.

Doctors at Apollo Hospitals, Kolkata, West Bengal (approximately 4.5km from Kolkata Railway Station), have advised an Allogeneic Haploidentical Stem Cell Transplant as the best chance of saving him. The estimated cost of treatment is Rs. 30,000,000 (Rupees Thirty Lakh Only).

Sanskar's modest monthly income has to support five people: Sagnik, his parents, his twin sister and his grandmother. Arranging such a large amount is extremely difficult for them. To be close to the hospital in emergencies and for daily visits, Sagnik and his parents also live in a rented home nearby, which adds to their expenses. Yet they have not given up. With support, Sagnik can win this fight and return to the classroom and the childhood he deserves.
