Eight-year-old Keerthana M from Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu, has spent years battling severe health complications. What began as frequent fever and pain while passing urine was later diagnosed as Chronic Kidney Disease Stage 4, caused by a neurogenic bladder secondary to L5 spina bifida. Since then, Keerthana’s childhood has been filled with hospital visits, treatments, and constant struggles no child should ever face.

Since then, her life has revolved around medicines, hospital visits, and constant medical supervision. Along with kidney disease, she also suffers from anaemia, hypertension, acidosis, mineral bone disorder, and growth retardation. Doctors at St. Peter’s Medical College, Hospital, and Research Institute in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu (7.6km from Hosur Railway Station), have now advised bladder augmentation with Mitrofanoff surgery, an important procedure that could improve her quality of life and prevent further complications.

Keerthana’s father, Manjunath Reddy, works as a labourer and is the sole support for a family of six, while her mother, Soundarya, stays by her side constantly. With limited income and mounting expenses, arranging Rs. 3,00,000 (Rupees Three Lakh Only) for her treatment has become extremely difficult.

Despite everything, Keerthana continues to smile through her pain, holding on to the hope of a healthier and happier future.
