A few months ago, nine-year-old Efrona Rephy began experiencing a fever that seemed ordinary at first. However, instead of subsiding, her health deteriorated rapidly. Her breathing became laboured, her weakness grew, and soon she stopped responding to basic treatment. Alarmed, her parents rushed her to several hospitals before her condition became critical, requiring her to be placed on a ventilator.“For weeks, I have watched my daughter struggle to breathe. Seeing her connected to machines day and night is something no parent should ever witness. We are praying for her recovery, but we cannot do this alone.”
Ephrons is currently continuing her therapy treatments. She is still being fed through a feeding tube. The baby is not responding to sound, so the doctor has recommended an audio test. The date for the test has not yet been fixed. Since the test needs to be conducted under sedation, the hospital staff informed us that they will make the necessary arrangements and inform once the date is scheduled.
Ephron's treatment is ongoing, and various types of therapies( Physiotherapy, Occupational therapy, swallowing therapy, speech therapy) are being done. The baby is currently at home, and she has to be brought to the hospital every week for therapies. A review by a pulmonary doctor and a neurology doctor has been fixed at Amrita Hospital on the 17th.
Efrona has been discharged on the 4th. Treatment should continue for at least 6 more months. The doctor said that the treatment will continue on an OP basis. She requires nebulization, antiepileptic medications, physiotherapy and rehabilitation.
