On 28th July 2023, World Nature Conservation Day is celebrated and observed worldwide as an awareness program to conserve nature. To maintain a stable and healthy society, it is emphasised how crucial it is to conserve the environment and natural resources. The preservation of endangered plant and animal species is one of the key goals of World Nature Conservation Day. On this day, the importance of preserving the environment for future generations is also emphasised. Therefore, we must ensure that the world is in good condition for future generations to enjoy.

The day's goal is to increase public awareness of the need of protecting our natural resources. Nature is now grappling with a number of issues, including deforestation, urbanisation, the loss of flora and fauna, and global warming. The purpose of this day has historically been to increase public awareness of the importance of the natural environment.

The theme of World Nature Conservation Day is “Forests and Livelihoods: Sustaining People and Planet.” Furthermore, World Nature Conservation Day acknowledges the crucial role individualscan play in conservation endeavours. While governments, businesses, and organizations hold responsibility for environmental protection, individuals also possess the power to make a difference through their actions. Climate change is a pressing issue in recent times. Global warming, pollution and the species getting endangered and extinct are causing a huge imbalance in nature. To protect natural resources and do our best to ensure that the earth does not get negatively impacted by our practices, we need to start a nature conversation.

To begin with, conserving nature, one should start at home. Here are 4 ways to celebrate World Nature Conservation Day at home and these methods should be imbibed forever.

A green world for a better future

  1. Don’t Waste Water: Try to minimize water usage at home, avoid unnecessary water wastage by turning off the tap while brushing your teeth, washing your hands, or doing the dishes. Consider choosing showers over baths, especially during summer, as they use significantly less water.
  2. Limited Waste of Food or Clothing: Reducing these wastes eventually promotes sustainability. Don't throw things away if you can help to reduce waste. In order to facilitate their reuse in the creation of new goods, separate recyclable materials like glass, metal, and paper from general garbage. Practise thoughtful grocery shopping by just purchasing what you need and making meal plans to reduce food wastage. Consider freezing food in reusable containers if it is about to expire.
  3. Unplug Electronic Gadgets: Before leaving the house or while they are not in use, disconnect your gadgets from wall outlets to save energy and cut down on excessive electricity use. You may reduce your utility costs by taking one easy action, which will also help you live a more eco-friendly and energy-efficient lifestyle.
  4. Reduce Plastic Wastage: avoid buying plastic bags rather switch to cloth bags or tote bags. Also, say no to single-use water bottles, straws, and bags. Instead, opt for alternatives to reusable, sustainable products. Moreover, be conscious of products made from or packaged in plastic, and whenever possible, choose plastic-free alternatives. You can considerably help to reduce plastic consumption and its damaging effects on the environment by implementing these simple changes in your everyday routine.

Child Help Foundation promotes and actively raises awareness for the conservation of Mother Earth. Various activities with school children and elderly people are organised on a regular basis. Tree plantation, making of paper bags and distributing them to the locals, beach cleanups and more are conducted by the organization. The organization has helped 56,936 through the Life on Land program.

On World Nature Conservation Day, let's commit to defending Mother Nature from all difficulties and dangers and overcoming them by working together.
