Help us provide immediate relief to the affected people in Assam

Following days of heavy rainfall in Assam and neighboring states of Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh, the water level of various rivers is progressively rising. The water in the Kopili river, which flows across the Northeastern states of India, is running above the danger level mark.

Heavy floods caused by incessant and untimely rains have affected more than 7.17 lakh people scattered across 1,929 villages across 29 Assam districts. Families and households have been destroyed. People are being forced to move. In some regions, roads, bridges, and homes have been entirely or partially destroyed.

While many of us are comfortable in our homes safe from the floods, others are fighting fear and fighting for their lives. We must get together to assist and save our brothers and sisters who are powerless in the face of terrible crimes.

This is a terrible time for the people of Assam. It’s a calamity that is causing upheaval in the lives of many. Young children, infants, mothers, senior citizens, as well the livestock and strays are among those trapped in the cyclone-ravaged area. They lack adequate food, power, resources, a network, and protection against adversity, and they are still dealing with the after-effects of the pandemic.

According to the flood reports of Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), till May 14, a total of 24,681 people in 94 villages in six districts - Cachar, Dhemaji, Hojai, Karbi Anglong West, Nagaon and Kamrup (Metro) have been affected in the first spell of the flood.

Under our Humanitarian Relief Program, Child Help Foundation volunteers are reaching out to the families in distress due to the devastating floods. So far we have reached 210 families in the Nalbari and Darrang Districts. We provided them with Ration Kits, including groceries and grains, packaged food, mustard oil, sanitary napkins, and mosquito racquets.

Together we can help Assam get back on its feet! To make this happen, we need your full support. Come forward to save the lives of these victims in any way possible. Your generous contributions could go a long way for these people in Assam, who are in a dire need of help.

Come forward and save the ones who need your help the most! Let us make a difference together.
