At Just Three, Yashika Faces a Second Battle Against Leukaemia

Three-year-old P. Yashika from Thiruvallur, Tamil Nadu, should have been spending her days laughing, playing, and discovering the world around her. Instead, her childhood has been overshadowed by hospital visits and painful treatments. A year ago, what began as frequent coughing led her parents to seek medical attention. After blood tests and further investigations, Yashika was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia.

Her family held onto hope as she underwent chemotherapy, believing the treatment would help her recover. But despite months of struggle and courage, the disease returned. The relapse has left her parents heartbroken, yet determined to continue fighting for their daughter’s life.

Doctors at MGM Cancer Institute, Chennai, Tamil Nadu (6.8km from Chennai Central Railway Station), have now advised an urgent Bone Marrow Transplant, offering Yashika a chance at recovery and a healthier future. The treatment cost is Rs. 20,00,000 (Rupees Twenty Lakh Only), an overwhelming amount for the family.

Yashika’s father, Prathap L, works as a driver and is the sole earning member of the family, while her mother, Gowri, stays by her side through every difficult moment. With limited income and rising medical expenses, arranging the treatment has become an enormous challenge.

Even through pain and uncertainty, little Yashika continues to hold on with remarkable bravery, reminding everyone around her of the strength found in hope and love.
