“My son has lived with this deformity all his life, he keeps asking me that why do his siblings walk straight and do everything regularly but he cannot. I have no answers for his questions and the guilt of me being unable to help him keeps eating me from inside everyday. I have no other option to take help from you all, please help us.”-

Yash is the ten -year-old son of Mr. Shivalingappa and mother Mrs. Choudamma. Mr. Shivalingappa is a tailor and earns Rs. 200 daily. He is the only breadwinner in the family of eight living in Mashal, Karnataka.

When Yash was born, the doctors informed his parents that he has Congenital Dorsolumbar Scoliosis. It is a sideways curvature of the spine caused by a defect that is present at birth. Basic check-ups and treatments started for Yash in a government hospital. When taken to Bhagwan Mahaveer Jain Hospital, Bengaluru, the doctors told that because of his tender age he cannot undergo any surgery but when he grows old, he will need a surgery for the spine deformity. The total cost of the surgery is coming at Rs. 4,00,000/- ( Rupees Four lakhs Only). This amount is unimaginable for a mere tailor, and the very mention of it sent a chill down his spine.

As he grew up, Yash started facing difficulties with everyday activities. His body started tilting too.
