“I am not able to earn much because I have been busy with Warisha's treatment for all these
years. My daughter has to go through the painful dialysis process every other day. Now that we
finally can go through with the kidney transplant, we are falling short of funds for the same.
Please support me so that my daughter can live a normal childhood!” -
Warisha Khan is a 13-year-old girl from Kaimur, Bihar. Her family consists of her parents and
her elder brother Arham (15). Mr. Asjad Khan (father) works at a private company as an
assistant accountant on a part-time basis, with a monthly income of Rs. 8,500/- only. Mrs.
Farhana (mother) is a homemaker. The family is currently living in Kolkata, West Bengal.
In December 2017, Warisha complained of discolouration in her urine. Her parents took her to a
local hospital in Bihar, where she was treated for over a week for her urine infection. However,
the problem persisted.
The family then decided to move to Kolkata in the hope of finding the right treatment. At the
Institute of Child Health, Kolkata, she was diagnosed with End-Stage Renal disease or a kidney
defect. Here, she was given dialysis 3 days a week for 3 months.
In February 2018, Warisha's family took her to AIIMS, Delhi, however, the doctors suggested
continued dialysis to keep her safe. At that point, the Khan family did not have any means to get
her a kidney transplant. They shifted to Kolkata again, where Warisha has been on dialysis for
4.5 years now.
Finally, the family is ready for Warisha's kidney transplant. Her mother is the donor for her
kidney transplant. The transplant will take place in CK Birla Hospital, Kolkata. The estimated
cost of this treatment is Rs. 10,55,000/- (Rupees Ten Lakhs Fifty Five Thousand Only).
Warisha's father is the only earning member in the family. Out of his little income, their monthly
house rent is Rs. 2,500/-, which leaves them Rs. 6,000/- only. Please help him in getting his
daughter the right treatment.
