“How did it come to this? It feels as if yesterday my son, Vikash, was jumping and playing with his friends. But right now, he is lying in his bed looking at his poor father for help. How am I supposed to say that I am completely powerless to help him and that his fate relies on the kindness of strangers? Please save my son. I will be eternally grateful for your help.”-

In a dingy shop, Bhurla toils day and night as a welder, and his thoughts always return to his son, Vikash, who is lying in the bed of HCG MSR Cancer Centre, Bangalore. Tears drown his eyes, as he thinks about his son, who is suffering from B-Thalassemia Major. Earning only Rs 400 per day, his financial status is hardly sufficient to pay the bills for his son’s treatment.

It all started in March 2021, when Vikash suddenly fell ill. Doctors at the government hospital carried out a blood transfusion to cure him, but his situation deteriorated again after a couple of days. After carrying out some tests, the doctors broke the news that Vikash is suffering from B-Thalassemia Major.

Doctors have said that he needs to undergo Allogenic Stem Cell Transplant. The price tag of the transplant is Rs. 12,00,000/- (Rupees Twelve Lakhs Only). Bhurla has no way of paying for his treatment, as he is the sole breadwinner in his family of four.
