“A few days ago, my daughter had her third birthday. We held a small celebration to keep her spirits up. But her smile still broke our hearts, as it just served as a painful reminder that her time might be short on this earth. A part of me wanted me to celebrate to cheer her up, while another part wanted to grieve.”-

Rithi is a three-year-old girl who lives with her family in Kerala. Like any normal child, she gets doted upon by her parents. But behind the tender love and care of her parents, lies a deep fear for Rithi’s wellbeing in their hearts.

Rithi is diagnosed with Leukemia, and the sessions of chemotherapy have taken a toll on her. She frequently experiences stomach aches and vomits whatever she eats. According to the doctors at Kerala’s Aster Medcity (14.9 km from Kochi Railway Station), Rithi needs more chemotherapy, which would cost Rs 5,00,000/- (Rupees Five Lakhs Only).

Renjith works at a private company and is the sole breadwinner in his family of four. He has managed to pay the bills by taking the help of his relatives.

Five lakhs is not only the price of Rithi’s treatment, but the price of Rithi’s smile, her happiness and all the fond memories she has spent with her parents.
