“The moment my daughter, Parwati entered the world remains the happiest day of my life. My
heart further swelled with joy upon seeing her grow into an intelligent young woman. But now
she is faced with the tough task of battling a spinal disease. What makes our financial situation
even more helpless is that my family is completely dependent on me. Please lend us some of
your kindness and save Parwati from her misery.”-
If you visit Parwati’s home in Gulbarga, Karnataka, you will find a mother who is doing her best
to take care of her daughter all by herself. Her husband has expired because of liver
complications. So, the entire burden of responsibility has fallen on the shoulders of Renuka who
works as a manual labourer.
Parwati, a fifteen-year-old with a head full of dreams, has been diagnosed with Congenital
Thoracolumbar Kyphoscoliosis, a gruesome spinal condition. Every step feels like a knife to her
legs, as she has difficulty walking. Doctors at Bhagwan Mahaveer Jain Hospital, Karnataka
have said that she needs to undergo a posterior instrumentation deformity correction vertebral
resection and fusion. But the price tag of her treatment is Rs 4,50,000/- (Rupees Four Lakhs
and Fifty Thousand only).
Renuka’s meagre income of Rs 5,000/- per month is barely enough to put food on the table for
her family. Even though she has put a show of strength for her daughter, there are times when
she wants to shatter this ruse and break down into tears. One can scarcely blame her, as she
has to take care of her all by herself.
Please come to the aid of Parwati during her tumultuous times. Donate as much as you can for
her treatment. Your aid will help Parwati to go forward in her life and create a bright future for
herself.
