For more than eleven years, a single day’s comfort has become a distant dream for Maheswari Morapaka. Diagnosed with Critical Congenital Heart Disease (CCHD) and Dextro-Transposition of the Great Arteries (D- TGA) at the mere age of three months old, Maheswari can only wish for normal life as she looks at her peers with longing. CCHD is a group of serious heart defects that are present from birth. These abnormalities result from problems with the formation of one or more parts of the heart during the early stages of embryonic development. Meanwhile, D-TGA is a birth defect of the heart in which the two main arteries carrying blood out of the heart – the main pulmonary artery and the aorta – are switched in position, or “transposed.”

Doctors at Care Hospitals in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad have said that Maheswari needs to undergo a Hypoplastic Left Ventricle, which comes with a price tag of Rs.3,50,000/-( Rupees Three lakhs Fifty Thousand Rupees Only). Maheswari’s parents earn a meagre income, which is barely enough to put food on the table for their family of five. They can never hope to pay such a huge sum of money.

Three Lakh is not only the cost of Maheswari’s treatment, it is the cost of her smile, her joviality, her playful nature. It is the cost of all the fond memories she has of her family members. Please come to the aid of Maheswari before it is too late.
