“My son’s life is as precious as any other child. We are poor but we make sure that we work hard
everyday and make our lives worthwhile. Life has just thrown a very difficult time at us. And we are in

Kanaiya is 9 years and 10 months old son of Mr. Nanaji Gangurde and Mrs. Harshali Gangurde, hailing
from Nashik, Maharashtra. After three weeks of birth, he suffered from high fever and was taken to the
hospital in Malegaon for medical aid. After giving temporary medication to the child, the doctors
advised the parents to seek cardiac care.
In furtherance to the suggestion the parents consulted the doctors of Fortis Hospital, Mulund,
Maharashtra where he was diagnosed with TA, Transposition of the Great Arteries (TGA), Ventricular
Septal Defect and Pulmonary Stenosis. In such cases, the oxygen-poor blood from the body enters the
right side of the heart, however, instead of going to the lungs, the blood is pumped directly back out to
the rest of the body through the aorta. Because the blood doesn’t carry enough oxygen, children
suffering from these diseases experience breathing problems, pounding heart and weak pulse. The doctors had initially suggested prolonged treatment which included two surgeries. The first surgery was
carried out 4 years ago post which the patient has been on regular check-ups. The remaining part of the
treatment includes CT Scan, Cardiac Catheterization, Fontan Procedure and Completion. The estimated
cost of which is Rs. 3,12,000/- (Rupees Three Lakhs and Twelve Thousand only).
The father of the child, Mr. Nanaji is a labourer and earns a small amount for a family of five members.
They have no other means of income to support their family. Such a circumstance has made them
helpless. They are in an urgent need of money to save their ailing child. Every child deserves to live a
healthy life away from pain and discomfort. Help Kanaiya have a pain free childhood.
