“The surgery costs us an unimaginably huge amount that is Rs. 10,00,000/- and we need funds to
continue the surgery. We have already drained our savings on his treatments till now and still,
the expenses keep adding up. He needs to undergo this surgery as soon as possible. I do not want
to lose my son, but I am helpless. Please help us in this hour of need.” -
Jathin is a six-year-old boy from Bengaluru, Karnataka. A few months ago, he suffered from
continuous high fever and threw up blood. Later when taken to the hospital, his parents Mr.
Manjunatha and Mrs. Nagamani were informed that their son was diagnosed with B-Thalassemia
Major. This was the most terrifying news for the family. The youngest and dearest member of
the family is suffering from a disease that they have never even heard about.
After six months of constant pain and suffering, they finally found a treatment for their son. He
is currently admitted to HCG MSR Cancer Centre, Bengaluru. However, to survive, he needs to
urgently undergo Allogeneic Stem Cell Transplant. His elder sister, Maithali is his donor. The
estimated cost of the surgery is Rs. 10,00,000/- (Rupees Ten Lakhs Only).
Even after finding the cure, the family is helpless because they cannot afford such a huge amount
for the surgery. Jathin's father is a machinery operator and earns a minimum income of Rs.
12,000/- per month. He is the only breadwinner in the family of four. Along with the monthly
expenses and Jathin's treatment, he is trying his best to make ends meet. The family is unable to
arrange the estimated cost in such a short time. They need your help to save their son!
