“Ever since my daughter was six years old, life has given nothing but pain and suffering to her. She dreams of helping the family escape poverty, but with her condition that seems impossible.”

Just like any other teenager, Harsha dreams of achieving milestones in her life. She studies hard at her home in Kozhikode, Kerala. But her condition is making it hard for her to pursue her dreams. Due to her disfigurement, Harsha can only go to college twice a week.

Even though Harsha has undergone five surgeries since she was six years old. During her childhood, she used to bleed from her mouth. According to doctors at Kerala’s Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences (13.7 km from Kochi Railway Station), her treatment would cost Rs.6,00,000/- (Rupees Six Lakh Only).

Rama Chandran works as a daily wage labourer and earns a meagre income. He lives with his family of five and is finding it hard to pay the medical bills. He has borrowed money from loved ones, but it still hasn’t been enough.
