“I have always dreamt of becoming a mother. But my baby’s birth brought sorrows
instead of tears of joy in my eyes. I didn’t even get a moment to hold my little munchkin
in my arms. She was immediately taken to the NICU after her birth. Please save my
daughter before it is too late.”-
When Rubina and Kazi found out they were going to be parents, their happiness was
beyond the moon. Their house at Dakshin Dinajpur, West Bengal was filled with joy and
happiness. Their days were spent planning about their would-be child. They thought
about potential names and bought various kinds of toys for her. However, the moment
Rubina went into labour before her due date, they knew that their worst days were
ahead.
At only 31 weeks of pregnancy, Rubina’s daughter was born into this world. Rubina’s
high blood pressure created complications in her pregnancy. While the baby battles for
every single breath in the NICU at Silver Crest Hospital in Haryana, her father has been
working day and night for his family. But Kazi works as a housekeeper and his meagre
salary of Rs 12,000/- is barely enough to feed his family of four. His new born baby’s
treatment needs Rs 1,50,000/- (Rupees One Lakh Fifty Thousand) which his beyond his
capabilities. Doctors have suggested a prolonged NICU stay for the baby’s treatment.
