‘’Discovering my baby's fragile life hanging by a thread was like feeling the world collapse beneath my feet. My heart aches to see her in distress. I just wish I could bear the weight of her suffering and shield her from the cruel twists of fate. Unfortunately, the world doesn’t work that way.’’

Pushpavathi’s world shattered when she brought her premature baby into the world at just seven months of pregnancy. Weighing a mere 730 grams, the baby struggled with respiratory distress syndrome.

The doctors at Coimbatore’s Kovai Medical Centre and Hospital Ltd (10 km from Coimbatore Railway Station), stressed the urgent need for intensive care in the NICU, with invasive ventilation and surfactant therapy to survive. The cost of these lifesaving measures is an overwhelming Rs 10,00,000/- (Rupees Ten lakh only).

Balsubramaniam, is a daily labourer and the sole breadwinner of the family. Living in a rented home with a family of four, his income is meagre and unpredictable. Despite borrowing heavily from friends in a desperate bid to save their baby, the mountain of expenses remains insurmountable.
