“When I carried Bhagyashree within me, my heart overflowed with joy and anticipation, every moment tinged with the promise of a bright future. Yet, in the blink of an eye, that happiness turned to emptiness as the word &scoliosis& hung heavy in the air. At that moment, I grappled with a torrent of fears, wondering if there was any possibility for my child to be independent in future.”

On the 22nd of February in 2011, amidst the fluttering excitement of new life, Saraswati cradled her precious baby girl in her arms. But, before she could soak in all the love and snuggles, the couple received the devastating diagnosis that Bhagyashree was suffering from Congenital Scoliosis.

According to the doctors at Karnataka’s Bhagwan Mahaveer Jain Hospital (4.0 km from Bengaluru Railway Station), Bhagyashree needs to undergo Bilateral posterior instrumentation, deformity correction and fusion, the cost of which is Rs.5, 00,000/- (Rupees Five Lakh Only).

Bhagyashree’s mother, Saraswati, a tailor, toils tirelessly to provide for her small family of three. The loss of her husband had already cast a shadow of financial strain, leaving her to shoulder the burden of insurmountable medical expenses alone. Desperately, they&ve turned to borrowing and the kindness of friends. But it hasn’t been enough.
