Nelson Mandela once said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”. Every child in this world has the freedom to learn and lead a brighter future but unfortunately, there are specific sections of children who are neglected from enjoying education. Certain serious ailments take away their enjoyment of education.

Students encounter chronic illness, short-term illness, accidents, or other situations that require hospitalisation, they face unique challenges in their educational journeys, requiring medical support and accommodations to ensure equal opportunities for success.

Despite having dedicated treatment and even receiving academic services while admitted, many student-patients are at a disadvantage as they transition back to school. There is another section of students who drop out of school and entangles their journey towards staying at home, even after recovery. Due to financial constraints, their parents find it difficult to fund their children's school fees. To have a secure and bright future, schools need to work together to establish and maintain good communication and cooperation.

When it comes to encouraging parents to send their children back to school with serious ailments, NGOs play a vital role in providing guidance and support. NGOs run awareness campaigns to inform parents of the value of education for their children. To establish inclusive learning environments, they may collaborate in various schools. Peer support networks can be created by NGOs so that parents of kids with serious illnesses can interact and exchange experiences. NGOs also provide financial assistance to families facing barriers in treating or educating children. This can include crowdfunding, scholarships, and grants.
