"Aakruti's mother works long hours as a nurse to keep our home running, and I feel the weight of her effort every day while I am without work. Aakruti has never asked us for anything except to keep going to school. We want to see her through, and any help she receives now will be remembered by our family for life."
Meet Aakruti Shirke, a Std 9th student at Smt. Ramalakshmi Narendra Sheth Vidyamandir, Andheri (East), Mumbai. She is now in the year that leads into her board exams, and every day in class matters.
Aakruti lives in a rented room with her parents, her younger brother and her grandfather, who depends on the family. Her father is currently unemployed, so the whole household runs on her mother's salary of Rs. 15,000 per month as a nurse. Her mother spends her days caring for patients, and that single salary now has to cover the rent, the food and the daily needs of five people.
Aakruti understands how much her family is carrying, and she continues to go to school every day. For the 2026-27 academic year, her school fees amount to Rs. 23,450/- (Rupees Twenty Three Thousand Four Hundred Fifty Only). Her mother is doing everything she can, yet with five people relying on one salary, this amount is beyond what she can manage.
